20th Apr Per 6 X Catechism

Good Morning!

I'm sure you've been very busy this morning and all these days working at your class X courses - all the best! Knuckling down to study - to focusing and doing the work which needs to be done will work in a very positive way of giving you skills/capabilities for life.

I hope that you're also finding some time to do some physical exercises - please ask your PT teachers for some tips. I also hope that you also have some time for relaxation - check with Mr Macdonald Samuel and Mrs Dharmana - do some signing and art! And, by the way - there will time for school functions later in the year - so those who like dancing or those who play musical instruments - work at it  😊😊😊

Reminder - if you haven't done so already - please enter your name in the "Comment" space - kindly do this each time you log into the blog post for the class - Thank you 🙏.
Once again, a reminder that when you are on social media (and this interaction is the use of social media for education), we are reminded that this is a public space and that we are called on to be our best selves - so kindly communicate appropriately at all times - in doing so you respecting yourself and all of us. Thank you!

So, did you do your interview with Jesus? I hope you did! If you did it it would be very interesting! Better if you had 2 chairs and imagine Jesus sitting in one and you in the other! And you can change places - imagine being Jesus - what answers would you give to your questions? What would you feel?

In  today's class, there are going to be 2 sections

PART A : we're going to continue to reflect on the resurrection of Jesus.

Let's start with another one of the Resurrection stories - it's from the Gospel of St Luke Ch 24 vs 35 - 43

Kindly read it from your Bibles or google it and read the passage from your phones.

Have you read it? Then, kindly click onto this link and watch the video of one of Jesus'appearances to his disciples.

What does Jesus 'risen' mean for us today? Does this meaning have any effect on my life? Does it have any effect on the way I live?

Jesus had spent 3 years with some very close friends (whom we call apostles and disciples) of all the crowds of people who had followed Jesus when he worked miracles or preached to them - there were only a few 20 or 30 (even that number may be a bit much) who after his death were lost and kept together in this time of great confusion and tragedy. They were scared and hopeless! Then something happens - the disciples try to tell us what happened which made these scared and hopeless people such courageous people - who gave their lives to tell others about the Good News which Jesus preached.

  • We are all called to experience the resurrection of Jesus in our lives - how it will happen will be very different but appropriate for each of us.
  • Whether it will happen will depend if we, like those disciples, have become fascinated by Jesus whom we have / will learn to know.
this is what we attempt to do in our catechism class - try and know the man Jesus - and having begun knowing him - become fascinated with Him and his message - a message which will should us how to live - Ï have come that they may have life and have it in abundance" Jn 10 : 10 and when we have experienced this fullness of life - we will want to share this Good News with others.

It's a necessary Christian practice to read the Bible daily. In addition, during these times we cannot have Church services - so we are required to keep our faith alive by taking responsibility to personally and as a family to read the Bible and to pray. You may find the following readings helpful tomorrow : 21st Apr : Jn 20 : 19-31

PART B :
Catechism class would not have it's the desired result if we only kept it to knowing more about the story of Jesus or talking about matters - though that is important - catechism class needs to affect my life! Yes, mine and yours! As I prepare and teach you catechism, I need to reflect on my life and work with God on my life - so do you.

So let me put before you the next few questions :
  • What is going to be my personal code of behaviour as a Christian this year?
    • as a member of my family
    • as a friend
    • as a student
    • as a member of society
    • as a member of my church community
  • As you answer - please don't think only of formal prayers or acts of worship - please think about them - but think more than them e.g.If Jesus was with me, how would He ask to behave with all the above groups?
  • What is going to be my personal code of behaviour for being myself - Jesus is with me - how would Jesus want me to relate with myself?
Do think about these questions - we'll pick up from here at the next catechism class.

Thank you! All the best till we have the next class! 🙏
