23rd Apr Per 3 XII Catechism "Called into Life"Lesson 2

Good morning!😊

Even though I have the large school campus to walk around and I do some good exercise for an hour daily and am busy for many many hours of work (seems busier than when we had normal school !) the lack of all the interaction and varied experiences of the normal life is becoming more difficult to adjust to! What about you? how are you managing? Are you: Getting exercise? helping around the house? Do you like cooking - trying your hand at it or learning to do it? Do you play a musical instrument or have some interaction with music? Do you watch a movie?

All the best as you learn to cope - with this experience of life! I'm sure we'll discover hidden talents!

Reminder - if you haven't done so already - please enter your name in the "Comment" space - kindly do this each time you log into the blog post for the class - Thank you 🙏.
Once again, a reminder that when you are on social media (and this interaction is the use of social media for education), we are reminded that this is a public space and that we are called on to be our best selves - so kindly communicate appropriately at all times - in doing so you are respecting yourself and all of us. Thank you!

Well, let's get down to class! It's been 10 days since Easter - so let's see - do you remember all these stories of the resurrection? Here's a list
  • Martha and Mary discover the empty tomb and meet Jesus (gardener) [Jn 20 : 11 -18]
  • John and Peter run to the tomb (Jn 20 : 1-10)
  • the 2 disciples meet Jesus (friend) on the road to Emmaus [Lk 24 : 13 - 35]
  • Jesus appears and eats with the disciples [Lk 24 : 36-42]
  • Jesus lets Thomas touch and see his wounds [Jn 20 : 19-31]
  • Jesus appears to the disciples when they were fishing and prepares breakfast for them [Jn 21: 1 - 14]
Please read through these stories if you haven't done them - today - it's necessary for our faith that we know these stories - in the last lesson I told you why.

There are just a few accounts of the resurrection in the Gospels - surprising - isn't it? For such a unique event? Yet most of the Gospels are about Jesus'teachings - works - his suffering and death. Something we will attempt to answer by the by.

For the moment - why are the stories of the resurrection given to us?  These next 2 quotations are Jesus telling us why :

Mk 16 : 14b : "Jesus reproached them for their unbelief and stubbornness in refusing to believe those who had seen him after he had risen." Jesus had told his disciples about his resurrection - he expected them to have believed and expected it to happen! When Jesus tells us something - do we really believe it?

Jn20 : 30-31 "there are many other signs that Jesus gave in the presence of his disciples, but they are not recorded in this book. These are recorded so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; believe and you will have life through his name." The disciples experienced Jesus alive, dead and risen - and they were fascinated by this person - they are convinced that he and his message are the answer to life - they are eager to bring this message to us -  are we eager to receive it?

This now links with our drawing of our river of life - of where we see our lives unfolding in the next so many years - now think about it - in that journey of my life - how is my Christian belief going to be seen?
  • first, just draw all along the stream footprints - 2 sets of footprints
  • next to those points where you expect things to become difficult e.g. death of beloved ones - just put - one set of footprints
  • now click onto this link and watch it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aH12F3AuZM
  • Kindly remember it: the first learning is that Jesus promises to always be with us!
We'll draw more conclusions at the next lesson!
Take care - see you at the next class!
🙏
