27th Apr, Per 6 Cl X Catechism

Hello ! 😊 Good morning 🙏
  • How are you?
  • Have you begun to develop some strategies to take care of yourself and others during these very different days?
  • Are you beginning to take charge of your life?
  • Did you give some special time to God yesterday - Sunday (if your parents encouraged the family to do so - you're fortunate; if they didn't for whatever reason - how about you doing what is necessary for your life ? If it's possible - you could suggest it to your family!
Whatever (do I ask too many questions ?) ...... you are where you are - and that's the purpose of the catechism class - so - Welcome !!!!

Reminder - if you haven't done so already - please enter your name in the "Comment" space - kindly do this each time you log into the blog post for the class - Thank you 🙏.
Once again, a reminder that when you are on social media (and this interaction is the use of social media for education), we are reminded that this is a public space and that we are called on to be our best selves - so kindly communicate appropriately at all times - in doing so you are respecting yourself and all of us. Thank you!

So, the last time I asked you to check and find the different stories of the resurrection  there are just a few
  • Martha and Mary discover the empty tomb and meet Jesus (gardener) [Jn 20 : 11 -18]
  • John and Peter run to the tomb (Jn 20 : 1-10)
  • the 2 disciples meet Jesus (friend) on the road to Emmaus [lk 24 : 13 - 35]
  • Jesus appears and eats with the disciples [Lk 24 : 36-42]
  • Jesus let's Thomas touch and see his wounds [Jn 20 : 19-31]
  • Jesus appears to the disciples when they were fishing and prepares breakfast for them [Jn 21 : 1 - 14]
Please read through these stories if you haven't done them - starting today (but within this week - we'll also be going through some of them during our catechism lessons) - it's necessary for our faith that we know these stories - in the last lesson I told you why.

These next 2 quotations are Jesus telling you why we have the stories of the resurrection

Mk 16 : 14b : "Jesus reproached them for their unbelief and stubbornness in refusing to believe those who had seen him after he had risen."

Jn20 : 30-31 "there are many other signs that Jesus gave in the presence of his disciples, but they are not recorded in this book. These are recorded so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; believe and you will have life through his name."

Let's reflect on the one when Jesus appears to the disciples who went back to fishing ! Jn21 : 1 - 14 - please take your bible and read the story or use the device you're using for this lesson and read the passage.

Then click onto this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zhAT-jaljY only watch till about 3.15 minutes of the video.
  • Think
    • why did the disciples go fishing?
    • What do you think they felt as they continued trying to fish and caught nothing?
    • how do you think they felt as they made their way back to the shore without a catch?
    • Why did they listen to the man on the shore - even when they were tired?
    • Why was it that John recognises that it is Jesus? Why John?
    • Why did Peter dive into the water?
    • What does Jesus preparing breakfast for the tired disciples tell you about Jesus?
    • What does this whole story tell you about the resurrection - tell you about the resurrection which is meaningful to your life now?
  • Does this experience picture the world today?
    • everyone was doing reasonably well
    • until the coronavirus arrived
    • then all our activities stopped
    • our old ways of doing things weren't working!
    • will we recognise Jesus when he comes?
    • Has Jesus come in our present crisis?
    • What will he tell us - what has he been telling us?
    • Will we listen? Are we listening?
  • How do we prepare ourselves to listen and recognise Jesus and do what he will tell us?
  • Does this passage have something to say in your life today?
    • How is your life going?
    • How are you living it ?
    • Do you have hope and energy for your life or not?
    • Are you able to listen to people who are there to help you?
    • Are you able to do what you know you need to do?
Please think and pray (without words - invite Jesus to be with your thoughts and feelings - invite him into this exercise) about this !

Take care 🙏🙏🙏
